Consolidated Council office set to better serve the community

Planning is underway for a future Shire workplace that would see the three current office buildings consolidated into one main workplace and customer service hub.

Ageing, inaccessible, and unsafe office infrastructure, rising maintenance costs, changing workstyles and a focus on improving access to services and customer experience has prompted the planning.

In November, Council endorsed an Operating Model designed to meet the needs of the current and future workforce of Mornington Peninsula Shire and the local community. A Site Analysis was also endorsed that shortlisted potential locations for such a facility.

These include:

  • 35 Wannaeue Place, Rosebud
  • 5 Queen Street, Mornington
  • Waterloo Place Car Park, Mornington
  • 2 Queen Street, Mornington
  • 90 Besgrove Street, Rosebud
  • 21 Marine Parade, Hastings
  • 350 Dunns Road (Civic Reserve), Mornington.

The locations were selected as they provide opportunity to improve service delivery while also being able to accommodate both Shire and community spaces and provide adequate car parking.

Each site will now be assessed to determine its suitability to accommodate a main consolidated Council office and ability to deliver significant opportunities and benefits to the wider local community.

An Expression of Interest process is also underway to help identify potential partnership (public and private) opportunities and ensure an affordable and sustainable outcome.
