Constructing world-class vaccine research facility underwrites our future

The Property Council of Australia has welcomed today’s commitment from the NSW Government to save lives through improved vaccine research practice on home soil.

Property Council’s NSW Executive Director Luke Achterstraat said this commitment demonstrated a recognition that our state can and should avoid future lockdowns.

“The property industry in NSW showcases some of the world’s best design, architecture and development practices globally, which will directly benefit our heroes developing emerging RNA vaccine research methods and stave off lockdowns,” Mr Achterstraat said.

“NSW has some of the brightest and innovative medical thinking minds in the world and they will now be supported by a world-class RNA Bioscience Alliance facility.

“We know that the best way to collaborate is in person, and this facility will provide a much-needed interaction platform to future-proof our safety and ability to congregate freely.”

Mr Achterstraat said that as we begin to recover from the aftermath of COVID-19, it is great news we have a further guarantee of jobs in the construction and commercial RNA industry which are critical industries for our economic recovery.

“The facility also provides a strong lure for global talent, and with the recent announcements around streamlining quarantine, we look forward to a steady, sensible return to overseas migration,” he said.

“It is great to see NSW investing in major innovation precincts, with Westmead’s health precinct set to provide world-leading thinkers with the ability to work in world-class facilities.

“This proactive investment in innovation precincts will set NSW up to continue leading the way in medical research and attract global companies to our shores to ensure the people of NSW have the jobs and resources to navigate whatever the future holds.

“Partnering with the NSW university sector will allow our future leaders to engage in securing the future of our state not just on a national level but international as well.”
