Consultation open for South George Town Primary School redevelopment

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Liberal Government has launched the community consultation process for the $15.1 million redevelopment of South George Town Primary School, as part of our Third 100 Day Plan.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the consultation process will give students, families, staff and the broader community an opportunity to provide feedback and ideas for the redevelopment.

“As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re delivering upgrades at 15 schools across the State, including South George Town Primary School,” Minister Palmer said.

“Our Government is committed to delivering the best possible education facilities to help our learners grow and thrive.

“Our $188 million School Building Blitz will deliver contemporary learning environments for students and staff to enjoy.”

The consultation process, which runs until 6 December 2024, allows the community to review the draft site masterplan, and includes an online survey, as well as student, staff and community workshops.

The feedback received through the consultation process will be provided to the architects and the project team to inform the design process.

Construction works at South George Town Primary School are expected to commence in 2026 and be completed in 2028.
