A new aerial ropes adventure course in Pemberton is already drawing in hundreds of tourists.
Aerial Adventure Pemberton officially opened on Boxing Day, with the Cook Government helping to get the attraction off the ground with a $100,000 Community Small Grants Fund (CSGF).
The aerial ropes course offers a multi-level treetop experience, including a 100m flying fox, while the Cook Government’s investment is enabling the construction of a welcoming area and caf, set to open later this year.
Additionally, visitors to Gloucester National Park can enter free of charge for the next six months, making Aerial Adventure Pemberton more accessible for local, intrastate and international tourists.
The CSGF is part of the Cook Government’s $80 million Native Forestry Transition Plan, supporting the South West region after Western Australia became one of the first states in the nation to end commercial native logging.
In the first round of the CSGF, 26 businesses shared in almost $2 million in funding.
The grants have supported local projects across a range of industries including tourism, hospitality, entertainment, agriculture and community group lead projects.
The second round of the CSGF will open early this year.
As stated by Forestry Minister Jackie Jarvis:
“Aerial Adventure Pemberton is just one fantastic example of what the South West region is doing with the CSGF.
“The CSGF is also supporting other local projects including a new glamping experience in Nannup and an upgrade at the Manjimup Speedway.
“This is all thanks to the Cook Government’s $80 million Native Forestry Transition Plan, which is continuing to transform our timber communities.”

“It’s fantastic to see additional investment in regional tourism operators, who are critical to our thriving tourism sector.
“Last year, our South West region was named the fastest-growing regional destination in the country by the Tourism & Transport Forum, so having new tourism attractions like Aerial Adventure Pemberton will no doubt encourage people to further explore the area.”

“That’s why the Cook Government is eager to support tourism ventures which preserve and promote WA’s natural environment as we work with South West communities following the landmark decision to end commercial native logging.”

“Our South West is already a premier place to live and visit, and this investment builds on that reputation.
“Aerial Adventure Pemberton is a great new draw card, which will entice tourists to not only explore the region’s natural wonders but the surrounding wineries, restaurants, and cafes.”
