A sunny, warm winter’s day with only the hint of a light breeze provided the perfect conditions for version 2 of City of Ryde’s popular food and wine festival Cork & Fork by the Riverside on Sunday 2 July.
Crowds flocked to Kissing Point Park, Putney, from 10am to 4pm to soak up the relaxed atmosphere, with some great food, drink and entertainment on offer.
The event had to be restaged after its original 21 May date was cancelled because of extremely high and dangerous winds on the day.
But there was no stopping revellers on Sunday who brought their dancing shoes as well as their specially branded Cork & Fork wine glasses to sample some of the delicious Mudgee and Hunter Valley wine, locally-made spirits and boutique beers that were available.
It was also a fun day for the kids, with the ever-popular pony rides, faced-painting, and food workshops keeping them busy and entertained.
City of Ryde Mayor Clr Sarkis Yedelian OAM said he was thrilled the event was able to go ahead after the earlier weather-driven setback.
“We’re blessed here in Ryde with some of Sydney’s most scenic parks and I’m sure you’ll agree there are few places that match Kissing Point when it comes to hosting an event like this,” he told the crowd.
“It’s great to see so many families and friends coming together to enjoy each other’s company and to tantalise their taste buds with some exceptionally good food and drink.”
