Coronavirus update for Victoria 30 January 2022

There are 889 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria – with 69 active cases ICU, including 35 on a ventilator, and an additional 42 cleared cases in ICU.

5,608,773 vaccine doses have been administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services, with 23,863 administered yesterday at state-run centres. 5,396 of these doses were for children aged 5 to 11.

38.1 per cent of Victorians aged 18 and over have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. 93.5 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have had two doses.

Victoria was notified of 10,589 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. This includes:

  • 6,110 who tested positive on a Rapid Antigen Test
  • 4,479 who returned a positive result on a PCR test.

Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of 20 deaths of people aged in their 40s to 100s. Of today’s reported deaths, 10 were recorded as occurring in the last two days.

Two deaths were reclassified due to duplications. This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 1,988.

There are 78,294 active cases in Victoria.

25,172 PCR tests were processed yesterday. The total number of PCR tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 18,887,486.­­
