Council crews working on city’s roads

Orange Council

Weather permitting, Orange City Council’s road crews will be working on a number of projects this week.

  • There’s more progress on the upgrade of Clergate Road. A section of the road north from Quartz Street to Ralston, is currently closed while contractors install drainage lines under the road. That stage should be completed this week and the road re-opened.
  • The upgrade of Forest Road is continuing. Contractors will be sealing the prepared surface on Wednesday. Then, topsoil will be added to the roadside verge before it is seeded. Line marking will follow.
  • There will be further progress on the new roundabout at the intersection of Clinton and Dalton streets this week. Drainage has been completed and crews are preparing the base for the road’s pavement.
  • All concrete and asphalt work has been completed on the new raised pedestrian (‘Wombat’) crossing in Park Street, between Summer and Byng streets (alongside St Mary’s Catholic School). The crossing opened to traffic on Friday. The line-marking contractor is expected to mark out the crossing this week. Then it will be ready for pedestrians to use.
  • The line-marking contractor will also be adding new lines after recent road work in Huntley Road, and at the recently resurfaced roundabout at the intersection of Dalton and Peisley streets.

Council crews have started work on an extension to the hardstand (plane parking areas) at the Orange Regional Airport. The first stage involves excavation of the existing soil and clay.
