Georges River Council is inviting current and interested food business who operate a temporary food stall or a mobile food vehicle, to attend free Temporary Food Premises Seminars.
These seminars will show participants how to safely set up and run a temporary food business.
Under the Food Act 2003 (NSW), operators of Temporary Food Premises (TFP), including stalls and mobile food vehicles, must meet food safety, hygiene and operational requirements.
Growing interest in temporary food businesses and increased TFP applications have prompted Council to host seminars that bring greater awareness of compliance requirements.
Council Food Inspectors will provide practical guidance on:
food safety requirements.
food handling and storage practices.
TFP application processes.
inspection processes.
compliance obligations for TFPs.
A set-up food stall will be on display to provide participants with a practical example of food safety and legislation requirements. Attendees will also have the chance to win door prizes.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg encourages anyone operating, or considering starting, a temporary food business to attend.
“These seminars are a great opportunity to learn what is required to run a safe and successful temporary food business,” Mayor Borg said.
“Whether you’re new or running a food stall or truck, these sessions offer practical tips. They’ll help you meet your obligations and keep your customers healthy.”
