Macedon Ranges Shire Council has acknowledged a recent election commitment regarding the future planning arrangements for the proposed Clarkefield Township Development and reaffirmed its adopted position on Amendment C164.
Mayor Cr Cassy Borthwick said Council’s position on 164 remained unchanged and that any decision regarding the proposal should be informed by a transparent, robust and evidence-based planning process.
Council has consistently advocated for an independent assessment of the proposal and believes further assessment, independent review and greater clarity are required before any decision is made.
Council remains committed to working constructively with the government of the day and engaging with all election candidates to advocate for a rigorous planning process that appropriately considers the matters raised by Council and the community.
