Snowy Monaro Regional Council is reminding residents that in light of difficulties in obtaining everyday household items, only the three Ps are to be flushed – pee, poo and paper.
Flushing paper towel, tissues, and wet wipes (even those marked as flushable) is already starting to create blockages and affect some of the region’s sewer systems.
Blockages not only damage infrastructure and harm the environment, but also result in Council crews being diverted from other critical activities. If residents are using toilet paper alternatives, such as packaged toilet wipes and wet wipes, these should be disposed of hygienically in the bin.
If you have a sewer blockage at your private property, please contact a local plumber.
If you see a leak from Council infrastructure, please contact Council on 1300 345 345.
