Community groups and organisations across the shire are being encouraged to consider applying in the latest round of East Gippsland Shire Council’s Community Grants Program.
Council has been able to support many worthwhile projects and groups through the Council Grants Program. Now is the time for community clubs, facility managers, event owners and groups to think about projects and activities they want to undertake and look at whether it fits the grant criteria.
Funding is available in two categories: Community Project Grants and Arts and Heritage Grants. The grants are awarded to support community groups and organisations; however, some of the Arts and Heritage grants are available to individuals.
Applications are invited for a wide range of activities which aim to build strength and resilience by empowering people of all ages and abilities to feel engaged and connected in community. Applications may support those looking to hold a community celebration or event, deliver a program, or undertake improvements.
Mayor Cr Mark Reeves said the grants are a great opportunity for clubs and groups to update their equipment or start a project.
“If you are part of a community group, I encourage you to look at these grants. We have also published details of previous recipients so people can understand the types of things that are possible with the Community Grants,” Cr Reeves said.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available in both the Community Projects, and Arts and Heritage streams. Up to $10,000 is available for Major Arts Projects grants. The program requires a dollar-for-dollar contribution by the applicant, half of which can be a non-monetary, in-kind contribution.
Council’s grant staff will be holding online grant information sessions on the following Wednesdays: June 15, July 6 and July 13.
