Council Staff Setting Records in Supporting Local Charities

Shoalhaven City Council’s Staff are setting new records with their Casual for a Cause initiative, with more funds raised and donated to local charities and good causes totaling close to $30,000 to date.

Last week staff presented the Shoalhaven Women’s Health Centre and the Rural Fire Service each with a cheque for $1000, after spinning the Charity Spinning Wheel to select the local charities.

Mayor Amanda Findley is delighted with the success of the initiative and commended Council staff for their generosity.

“This is a fantastic way for staff to come together and give back to the community that they work and live in each day,” said Mayor Findlay.

“The Shoalhaven Women’s Health Centre said receiving a thousand dollars will really make the centre shine. The donation will enable them to beautify the outdoor space and make it a happier place for their clients, and they plan to use some of the funds to improve their backyard where they offer gardening and grow you own veggies programs for women.

“I am proud of the staff at Shoalhaven City Council for their commitment to make a difference in their own backyard, especially at a time when there is an increased need in our community,” Clr Findley said.

Council staff are motivated to continue their own fundraising records this year and hope to support more charities and local good causes in the coming months.
