Wingecarribee Shire Council is reminding residents across the Highlands to stay COVID-Safe in the wake of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases reported across Sydney.
NSW Health have issued new rules and restrictions for residents of Greater Sydney including the Central Coast, Shellharbour, Blue Mountains and Wollongong local government areas.
These restrictions include limitations around essential travel, group gatherings and the wearing of face masks in public.
NSW Health advise persons from Greater Sydney, or those that have visited Greater Sydney in the last 14 days, must wear a face mask when indoors including workplaces.
Whilst these restrictions do not currently apply to the Wingecarribee Shire, locals are urged to remain vigilant considering our proximity to these restricted areas and the potential for increased travel as the school holidays commence.
To help limit the potential spread of COVID-19 residents are reminded to maintain proper physical distancing and continue good hygiene practices.
Residents and visitors are also urged to continue using the COVID-Safe QR app when visiting public venues.
Residents experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or feeling unwell should get tested and self-isolate. Symptoms include a fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle and joint pain and loss of smell or taste.
Local testing facilities are available at the Mittagong Respiratory Clinic at 58 Bowral Road in Mittagong and Bowral and District Hospital Outpatients Department located on Ascot Street in Bowral.
