Mornington Peninsula Shire Council welcomes the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal’s (VCAT) decision to refuse to grant a permit to AA Holdings Pty Ltd to build a McDonalds outlet at the BP service station in Safety Beach.
A planning application lodged in November 2019 for 1 Marine Drive and 5 Nepean Highway Safety Beach, requested the use and development of the land for a service station and convenience restaurant, removal of vegetation, creating and altering access to a road and constructing signs and associated works.
The application was refused by Council in July 2020 and a 7-day VCAT hearing occurred earlier this year, with the final result announced late last week, upholding Council’s decision.
