Couple charged with drug supply at Albury, NSW

A man and a woman will face court today charged with drug supply after allegedly being found in possession of prohibited drugs in the Albury district yesterday.

In September 2020, Strike Force Goolgumbla, which comprised of investigators from the Murray River Police District, was formed to investigate the alleged large-scale supply of cocaine and MDMA in the Albury area.

Following extensive inquiries, Strike Force detectives executed a search warrant at a house in Fairview Drive, Lavington about 10.30am yesterday (Thursday 8 October 2020).

Officers arrested a 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman.

During the search warrant, police seized a quantity of cannabis, cash and mobile phones from the premises.

The couple were taken to Albury Police Station where the man was charged with eight offences – supply prohibited drug (six counts), possess prohibited drug and participate in a criminal group – contribute to criminal activity.

The woman was charged with six offences, including supply prohibited drug (4 counts), possess prohibited drug and participate in a criminal group – contribute to criminal activity.

Both were refused bail and are due to appear in Albury Local Court today (Friday 9 October 2020).
