Northern Territory Police have issued a further seven infringements notices for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer Directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environmental Health Act 2011.
A 29-year-old man was found to be absent from his home in Howard Springs during a compliance check on Friday 3 July 2020. The man had previously been issued an infringement on 20 June 2020 and now has been issued a second infringement.
A 25-year-old man was also found to be absent from his home in Driver during a compliance check on Saturday 4 July 2020. Police made multiple attempts to locate and contact the man. He purposely avoided police and has now been issued with his second infringement.
Two people, aged 46 and 50, arrived in the Territory on 24 June 2020 and were to be quarantining at a residence in Humpty Doo. They were located in Katherine and both now been issued with fines.
On Sunday 5 July 2020, police received a report of two people frequently leaving a hotel in Darwin that they were quarantining.
Police attended the premise and spoke to a 26-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man who stated they went out to get food. The man was confrontational with police and they were both issued with a fine.
Additionally, a 54-year-old woman has now been issued with an infringement for breaking quarantine last month. She was identified attending a boat cruise in Kakadu National Park with a 47-year-old man, before leaving the Territory. Her companion had already been fined.
The infringement penalty for an individual is $1,106 and $5,530 for a business.
NT Police and Environmental Health Officers continue to undertake compliance activities.
22,843 compliance checks have now been completed and 117 fines issued.
