1 December 2021

The Northern Territory has recorded three new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Two international flight crew members who arrived in Darwin on a flight from London on 26 November have tested positive for COVID-19. They are close contacts of a previously recorded case and are under the care of the Centre for National Resilience (CNR). Genomic sequencing is being undertaken.

The other new COVID-19 case is related to the current NT outbreak and brings the total number of cases to 59.

The new case is a male infant from Binjari who is the child of previously recorded cases of COVID-19. The family has been at the CNR during their infectious period.

There are currently 208 close contacts for cluster two. Of those, all have been contacted and are isolating, and 201 have returned a negative test.

More than 2,500 COVID-19 tests were processed across the NT yesterday. This includes 147 tests undertaken in Binjari. Since the Rapid Assessment Team arrived in Lajamanu, more than 700 tests have been processed, with 457 returning a negative result to date. Further results are expected today.

Wastewater testing results for the Bicentennial Road catchment site in Katherine are positive. Wastewater testing for Lajamanu is now negative. There have been no other unexpected positive wastewater testing results across the NT.
