Creative Development Micro-Grants Recipients Announced

Wyndham City is delighted to announce the recipients of the Creative Development Micro-Grant program that was launched in May.

The Creative Development Grant supports the creation of new work by five local Wyndham creatives within the local community with the focus on developing a creative community project, business and/or practice. Each recipient received a grant of $2,500.

The five recipients of the Creative Development Grants were selected for their individual artistic ideas and each brings a different element and local flavour.

Damon Paraha – Develop an online platform titled The Movement Productions, for supporting artists through the creation & distribution of original, visual/audio content to be consumed via YouTube and live-streaming platforms.

Amelia O’Leary – A Certain Mumble is a dance film that encompasses Amelia’s journey with choreography. The movement shows a Malaysian dancer Janelle Tan and Aboriginal Woman Amelia dancing a duo, revealing and sharing aspects of identity, culture, hidden stories, lineages and dance history.

Tania Canas – adaptation of a socially engaged practice into a digital platform with the long term displaced Salvadoran community. The project looks to develop a participatory, community-led digital archive with the community.

Melissa Lazaridis – James + Melissa Lazaridis Collaboration to produce 10 artworks. Melissa will begin work towards developing and producing a body of 2D painting/drawing work.

Fatima Measham – A creative response to the values of the grasslands of the west, to foster connections between people and place. The project will incorporate research into a storytelling website with elements that can be repurposed in other formats.
