Criminal syndicate dismantled after inquiries into fraudulent acquisition of luxury vehicles valued at $500,000, NSW

Detectives have arrested four men and dismantled a criminal syndicate following an investigation into the alleged fraudulent acquisition of luxury vehicles valued at more than $500,000.

In December last year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial Crimes Squad established Strike Force Celti to investigate the activities of a criminal syndicate involved in the fraudulent acquisition of luxury vehicles across Sydney.

During the investigation police also received information relating to the fraudulent acquisition of personal loans and mobile phones.

Following extensive investigations, officers executed eight search warrants at properties at Elizabeth Hills, Guildford, Old Guildford, Enfield, Five Dock, Prestons and Liverpool from 6am today (Wednesday 19 May 2021).

Four men – aged 32, 36, 48 and 62 – were arrested during the operation and taken to local police stations, where charges are expected to be laid.

So far during the searches, strike force investigators have seized three Lexus vehicles, a large quantity of illicit cigarettes and documentation.

Investigations are continuing.
