Crop house warrants in south east

Police from Southern Division 3 Divisional Response Unit have charged a man and seized over 400 alleged cannabis plants during three separate warrants in Melbourne’s south east this week.

Investigators executed a search warrant under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act (DPCSA) in Bollen Way, Koo Wee Rup on 2 June.

A 46-year-old man, who is a Vietnamese national with an expired visa, was arrested as he attempted to run from the premises.

A total of 166 plants were seized and an electrical bypass was discovered at the address.

The man was charged with cultivate, traffick and possess a commercial quantity of cannabis and theft of electricity; and was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 25 August.

On Thursday 4 June, investigators executed another DPCSA warrant in Pendula Court, Narre Warren.

A total of 98 plants were seized and another electrical bypass was discovered.

No person was home at the time and the investigation remains ongoing.

A third DPCSA warrant was executed in The Esplanade, Narre Warren South on Friday 5 June.

On this occasion another 157 plants were seized and another electrical bypass located.

No one was present at the address and the investigation remains ongoing.
