CSIRO appoints Chief People Officer

Following a competitive recruitment search the national science agency has announced Ms Marcia Gough has been appointed as CSIRO’s Chief People Officer.

Marcia brings to CSIRO more than 30 years of human resources and culture leadership, having led a number of people functions including at RMIT, Swinburne and most recently Austin Health.

Dr Doug Hilton, CSIRO Chief Executive, said Ms Gough will oversee the organisation’s full suite of human resources, health safety and environment and change management programs.

“Marcia brings a proven track record of leading people and culture functions to deliver positive business outcomes across a range of industries,” Dr Hilton said.

“We know that CSIRO’s people are our greatest asset and I’m looking forward to working with Marcia as we continue to drive forward the organisation’s People Safety and Culture programs.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Gough said: “CSIRO is one of the great Australian institutions, with a clear purpose of solving the nation’s greatest challenges through science and technology.

“I’m looking forward to joining and helping drive the organisation’s people strategy, ensuring that the day-to-day experience of working at CSIRO aligns with the organisation’s purpose.

As Chief People Officer Ms Gough will lead a team of more than 200 professional services staff, and will be based at Clayton, Victoria. She commences in the role in April.
