Its monsoon season in Darwin and to celebrate we have a week of free fun water activities for the January school holidays.
Darwin Waterfront’s school holiday program, ‘WATERWORLD’ commences Monday 17th to Friday 21st January in the Dalay (monsoon) season. It is a time when the heavy rains replenish our parched thirsty lands and when Saltwater crocodiles are active and looking for a mate. To connect with the season we have a week of free fun water and croc themed activities to enjoy.
On Monday 17th from 10am to 1pm, join the extraordinarily talented and creative team at Tip Top Circus for some Croc-Tastic fun. Enjoy taking part in croc-themed games, arts and crafts and up-close encounters. Plus be there for the floaty croc race in the Recreation Lagoon.
Tuesday 18th at 8am there is an amazing experience to try scuba diving in the Wave Lagoon. Be quick as registrations for this event go quickly due to numbers needing to be capped.
Back by popular demand is our Water War Zone. When it comes to school holiday activities, there’s almost nothing better than a great water balloon fight. The Waterfront lawns will be transformed into a water zone for kids to enjoy non-stop water action. Or make a splash and learn important skills with the Nippers Water Safety Awareness Program with Surf Life Saving NT. Both activities commence at 10am.
On Friday there will be dance and music by the water at 3pm, as well as a special Saltwater Ceremony by Larrakia man, Richard Fejo at 4:30pm in the Recreation Lagoon.
Darwin Waterfront is the perfect place to enjoy school holidays and spend the day with the Wave Lagoon, AquaPark challenge course, paddle boarding, fishing at Stokes Hill Wharf and the interactive Royal Flying Doctors Tourist Facility. Enjoy our range of delicious dining options to either dine in or take-away on the lawns on a sun lounger.
Plus Kitchener car-park is free until January 31st.
