Delivering NDIS: $67.8m boost for people living with disability to better connect with community

Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Stuart Robert, today announced grants worth a total of $67.8 million to support people with a disability to better connect with their community, gain employment and access health services.

The grants are part of the National Disability Insurance Agency’s Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) program, which provides funding to organisations to deliver projects in the community to benefit all Australians with disability, their carers and families.

Today’s announcement sees $32.7 million awarded across 28 successful grants for the ILC’s Economic and Community Participation (ECP) grant round, with a further $35.1 million awarded through 28 Mainstream Capacity Building (MCB) grants.

‘These grants focus on improving employment opportunities and enabling improved access to health services for people with a disability-areas we know are vital for any Australian in their pursuit of achieving their goals,’ Minister Robert said.

‘This round of grants sees the Government deliver on all four of the major programs as part of the ILC Investment Strategy with support going to organisations across every state and territory to help people with a disability reach their full potential.

‘Everyone should be afforded the same opportunity to play a meaningful role in their community and these grants are another way the NDIS is empowering people with disability to do just that.’

The latest round of grants will help 56 organisations across Australia better support people with a disability, and comes on top of December’s Individual Capacity Building Program grant round which saw $105.9 million awarded to 105 grants.

‘I’d like to congratulate all the recipients of these grants and look forward to seeing the positive impact this funding will have in better supporting people with a disability,’ Minister Robert said.
