Designs For Bendigo TAFE Project Unveiled

  • Minister for Training and Skills

Students in Bendigo are a step closer to having the state-of-the-art training facilities they deserve, with the release of artist impressions for the Bendigo TAFE’s Bendigo City Campus Revitalisation Project.

The designs, by award-winning Victorian architects Architectus and Six Degrees, are the next step in the $60 million redevelopment, which will deliver an education precinct that will boost activity and vibrancy in Bendigo’s central business district and invest in the future of regional Victoria.

The redevelopment, due for completion by early 2021, will include:

  • a new Learning Hub – a one-stop-shop for learning and student support, with collaborative spaces for students, teachers and the community to engage in social and learning activities
  • a new Industry Innovation Centre – an accessible interface between Bendigo TAFE and industry for business development, student work placement, course development, and applied research and innovation
  • the relocation of the current Bendigo Technical Education Campus operations to the Bendigo City Campus.

A builder is expected to be appointed in September, with construction to commence shortly thereafter.

Since 2015, the Labor Government has committed more than $1.3 billion to rebuild our TAFE and training system and ensure students can get the skills they need for the jobs they want.

Thousands of Victorians are on the way to getting the skills they need to secure jobs in high-demand industries, with more than 19,000 students enrolled in Free TAFE courses across the state, driving a doubling of commencements compared to the same TAFE courses at the same time last year.

As stated by Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney

“The Bendigo City Campus Revitalisation Project is another great example of the work we’re doing to develop cutting-edge training solutions to meet the needs of students and industry as they adapt in a changing economy.”

As stated by Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards

“This is a significant step forward for this project. We’re investing in first class training infrastructure for Bendigo TAFE, while taking the financial pressure off students to enrol.”

As stated by Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan

“This project means Bendigo TAFE can continue to support locals to learn and work right here in Bendigo.”
