Detectives continue to investigate fatal shooting in Reservoir

Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fatal shooting in Reservoir last night.

Emergency services responded to reports a man had been fatally shot on the driveway of a property on Mahoneys Road just before midnight.

It is understood a male offender got out of a parked black Lexus SUV and ran towards the victim, before firing multiple shots.

The 55-year-old Richmond man, who was struck several times to the upper body, died at the scene.

The male offender fled the scene in the black Lexus.

The vehicle, which had New South Wales registration plates, was later set alight on Robinvale Avenue in Thomastown.

It is understood a white Toyota Corolla hatchback was seen fleeing the scene of the car fire.

A white Corolla, with stolen plates, was later located on Dakota Court in Thomastown. Police are making enquiries to determine whether it is the same vehicle.

Police believe the incident was targeted.

Investigators are urging anyone who was travelling through the Reservoir or Thomastown areas last night between 10.30pm and 1am, who may have seen the black Lexus or the white Toyota, to check their dashcam footage and provide it to police.
