Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal hit-run collision in Frankston South this morning.
Emergency services were called to reports a vehicle had struck a pedestrian on Frankston-Flinders Road, near Highland Drive, about 5.30am.
The vehicle, believed to be a dark coloured SUV, fled the scene west on Frankston-Flinders Road.
The female pedestrian, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
A crime scene has been established and traffic disruptions are expected in the area for some time.
