Disaster assistance extended to more NSW communities

Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience, Minister for Regionalisation, Regional Communications and Regional Education

Disaster assistance is now available in the two additional Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Berrigan and Central Darling, following the severe storms and flooding from Tuesday 9 November 2021.

Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie said that the inclusion of Berrigan Shire and Central Darling would ensure these communities now have access to support to enable them to recover from this event.

“We continue to work closely with NSW Government, councils and communities to ensure that those impacted by this event are able to access the support they need to get back on their feet as quickly as possible,” Minister McKenzie said.

New South Wales Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said those who have been impacted by the recent weather events can contact Service NSW for support.

“We now have a total of 62 Local Government Areas impacted by severe weather and flooding over recent months,” Ms Cooke said.

“Assistance is now available to primary producers, small business owners, households and individuals. It is vital we get this support into the hands of communities who need it most, as soon as possible.”
