Disqualified driver in court over aggravated carjacking near Albury, NSW

A disqualified driver will appear in court today charged over allegedly stealing a utility vehicle and assaulting another man in the state’s south.

About 5.30pm on Wednesday (26 August 2020), a man saw another man, aged 33 entered his Holden Colorado Utility parked on Colley Street, Lavington.

When he entered the vehicle to confront him, the younger man allegedly punched him the face before speeding away; causing the 38-year-old man to fall from the moving vehicle.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, investigators stopped a Holden Cruz in Kimberly Court, Lavington, and spoke with the passenger, a 33-year-old man, about 10am yesterday (Thursday 27 August 2020).

He was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it – inflict actual bodily harm, resist officer in execution of duty and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

The man was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today (Friday 28 August 2020)
