Dog stolen then dumped after theft and burglary in Delahey

Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information after a garage was broken into and a dog stolen from the front yard of a home in Delahey earlier this month.

Police have been told three offenders broke into a car parked at a shopping centre carpark, on the corner of Neale and Station roads in Deer Park and stole a garage remote on Wednesday 8 April about 3.40pm.

It’s believed the same offenders, equipped with the stolen remote, attended the victim’s home in Wilmot Drive, Delahey and used the remote to open the garage door just before 4pm.

The victim’s dog, a small white and grey Maltese Shih Tzu cross, escaped from the garage before it was picked up a short time later by the offenders who were seen in a white Range Rover Evoque.

Police are interested in speaking to the occupants of the Range Rover and have released a still image and CCTV footage in the hope someone may recognize them and provide information.

The dog was later located on Pascoe Vale Road where its’s believed it was dumped in Glenroy about 6pm. The dog has been reunited with his owners.
