Swan Hill Rural City Council is preparing a new Domestic Animal Management Plan and is seeking feedback from local residents!
Council’s Director Development and Planning, Heather Green said feedback would help to help determine the way we manage domestic animals in our community over the next four years.
“Our 2022-2025 Domestic Animal Management plan will set out procedures for managing dogs and cats which will then shape the way we invest our time and resources.
“The plan will outline how we will support domestic animal management including the safety and wellbeing of the entire community and the promotion of responsible pet ownership,” Ms Green said.
Ms Green said members of the community were invited to complete an online survey.
“Our survey is a chance for residents to provide us with feedback on issues they may be experiencing in their neighbourhood.
“The feedback we receive will be reviewed and incorporated into our new Domestic Animal Management Plan.
“It’s important we hear from all residents, even those without pets, to ensure we are meeting the differing needs and expectations of the community in relation to the management of domestic animals,” she said.
Ms Green said there would also be an opportunity for local residents to have their say at four community pop-up sessions scheduled to be held in Swan Hill and Robinvale.
“There are some great incentives to get involved as the first 20 people who attend the sessions will receive a free pet goodie bag containing pet treats, a lead and information about responsible pet ownership.
