Domestic Violence Arrest At Townsville

Townsville Tactical Crime Squad officers, with the assistance of the helicopter aerial asset, have charged a 35-year-old Garbutt man following investigations into multiple serious domestic violence incidents that occurred in the Northern District last week.

Officers attended an address in Garbutt on Tuesday evening, where the man attempted to flee.

He was able to be tracked for some time by the helicopter aerial asset before being taken into custody a short distance away.

The 35-year-old Garbutt man has been charged with two counts of assaults occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence), and one count each of common assault, common assault (domestic violence offence), stealing (domestic violence offence), wilful damage (domestic violence offence).

Police will allege the incidents occurred between Tuesday, March 26 and Friday, March 29.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today, April 5.
