Double love for Liverpool-based organisations at Charity Ball

Liverpool City Councillors have endorsed two organisations working in the Liverpool area to receive funds raised at Council’s 2020 Charity Ball – CNA-Italian Australian Services and Welfare Centre and The Salvation Army.

“As one of South West Sydney’s premier black-tie events, the Liverpool City Council Charity Ball combines fine dining with live entertainment, dancing and fundraising fun,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.

“This year we will raise funds for two organisations who are doing important work for some of the more marginalised in our community.

“CNA-Italian Australian Services and Welfare Centre provide centre-based care and social support for seniors of a culturally diverse background, coordinate an information service for new migrants and run an Italian language and culture school for students from K-12.

“Funds raised at the Charity Ball will help them deliver a project to empower isolated and vulnerable seniors to live with greater independence while improving their wellbeing, teaching them skills in cooking, gardening and arts and crafts.

“We’ll also support The Salvation Army, who work to feed and nourish the most vulnerable in our community through their breakfast and lunch service, as well as provide relief hampers to those facing extreme hardship or crisis.”

Last year guests were treated to cuisine, beverages and entertainment inspired by the bright lights and bustle of Tokyo and, as the gateway city to Western Sydney International Airport, guests will once again be ‘jetting off’ to an exciting new destination.

“In celebration of our long-time sister city relationship with the Italian region of Calabria, this year’s Charity Ball will take inspiration from the culture and cuisine of Italy,” Mayor Waller said.

The seventh annual Liverpool City Council Charity Ball will be held at The William Inglis Hotel from 6pm-11pm on Saturday 8 August. Early bird tickets are available for $150 per person, instead of the usual $185, and are on sale from 1 to 31 March. Visit www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/charityball to purchase tickets.

“Alongside our generous sponsors and partners, around 300 guests at last year’s Charity Ball dug deep to assist us in raising more than $50,000 for the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research,” Mayor Waller said.

“Businesses from Liverpool and beyond are invited to support Council in delivering a fantastic 2020 Charity Ball experience while ultimately raising funds for CNA-Italian Australian Services and Welfare Centre and The Salvation Army.”
