“We are shocked that people still think it’s okay in this day and age to get behind the wheel of a car when they have been drinking.

“This is a case of us being very lucky that there was no one injured as a result of this person being on the road at that level of intoxication, he said.

“We are appealing to everyone on the roads, especially with the upcoming festive season, to think before getting behind the wheel if you’ve been out socialising and drinking.

“You’re far safer to pre-plan your night out and leave your car at home.

“We have had too many fatalities on our roads this year and there are already too many people who are going to be missing loved ones as we celebrate the festive season together with family and friends.

“If you’ve been out drinking and you’re unsure if you can drive, the simple answer is don’t.”
