Driver nearly four times over limit after crash, South Australia

An Unley Park man will face court after he crashed his car in the city last night and allegedly registered a blood alcohol reading of nearly four times over the legal limit.

Just after 10pm on Friday 15 November, the man driving a Holden Commodore sedan south on Pulteney Street, when he lost control of the vehicle as he was travelling through Hurtle Square, he collided with two cars, then mounted a kerb, hit a rubbish bin and came to rest in the middle of the grassed area of the square.

Miraculously there were no injuries. The driver of the Commodore was breath tested allegedly returning a blood alcohol reading of 0.198 or nearly four times over the limit of .05.

The 46-year-old was reported for aggravated driving without due care, and drink driving, his licences was disqualified for 12 months and his car was impounded for 28 days.

The man will be summonsed to appear in the Adelaide magistrates Court early in the new year.

Police once again appeal to all road users please do not drink or drug drive. Police Operation High Impact started midnight on Thursday night and will run to Wednesday 11 December, the state-wide operation will target the fatal five offences of drink and drug driving, speeding, distraction, seatbelts and dangerous road users.
