Drug trafficking at Moranbah

Detectives from the Moranbah Criminal Investigation Branch have closed Operation Tango Gismo targeting the trafficking of dangerous drugs.

The protracted investigation focused on the unlawful trafficking of the dangerous drugs methylamphetamine and cannabis throughout the central highlands.

Search warrants were carried out with the assistance of Moranbah, Clermont and Nebo police, Mackay Tactical Crime Squad, specialist drug detection dogs and officers from other agencies resulting in the seizure of evidence and the arrest of a number of people.

Operation Tango Gismo resulted in the arrest of 20 people, who were charged with 117 offences across the entire operation. Charges included trafficking in dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs and possessing quantities of drugs which exceed relevant drug schedules.

The operation resulted in the seizure of Methylamphetamine, cannabis and two firearms.

Detective Senior Constable Edward Rogers wanted to thank the community for the ongoing support in providing information to police allowing these offences to be investigated.
