Police investigating the supply of illicit drugs have arrested one person and seized drugs and ammunition after executing a search warrant in Whangārei.
The Northland Organised Crime Unit had identified a patched Mangu Kaha member suspected of supplying illicit drugs to the community.
Detective Inspector Michele Gillespie, Northland CIB, says the investigation led Police to an address in Otangarei on Wednesday.
“At around 6.45am, Organised Crime Unit staff, supported by the Offender Prioritisation Team, executed a search warrant on William Jones Drive.
“A number of unlawful items were located at the address, including firearm ammunition, cannabis and LSD.”
A 36-year-old man at the address was arrested.
He has been charged with possession for supply cannabis plant, possession of LSD, unlawfully possessing ammunition, and failure to carry out obligations in relation to computer search.
The man will appear in Whangārei District Court on 19 August.
“This result reflects the ongoing commitment of Police to disrupting organised criminal activity and holding those offenders to account.
“Illicit drugs cause harm to our communities, and we will continue to identify and prosecute those involved in the supply and distribution of them,” Detective Inspector Gillespie says.
