Elderly victim assaulted at Torrensville, South Australia

Police have arrested a man after a series of assaults which occurred this morning at Torrensville and Mile End.

About 9.30am on Wednesday 25 March, Western District patrols were called to a Ballara Street,Mile End address after reports of a man attempting to steal a bike and kicking a car.

A short time later a woman reported being assaulted by a man on King Street at Mile End. The victim was not physically injured as a result of the incident.

About 5 minutes later, police received calls from members of the public advising an elderly womanhad been assaulted on Henley Beach Road near Wainhouse Street.

A witness to the assault approached the suspect who then ran from the scene but he was followeduntil police patrols arrived and he was arrested without incident.

The elderly woman received minor injuries as a result of the assault and was conveyed by SAAS to hospital for treatment.

A 24-year-old man from Henley Beach South was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated indecent assault and assault. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday 26 March.

Police are seeking assistance from members of the public who may have witnessed the assault and haven’t spoken to police yet or may have dashcam footage of the assault on the victim in the Centrelink car park Torrensville at approximately 9.30am this morning. The female victim was wearing light coloured clothing and had parked a light coloured sedan near the front entrance doors of the Centrelink office.
