Emergency response training exercise – Port of Melbourne
A routine emergency response training exercise will be held between 11:00am and 1:00pm on Friday 13 December 2019 at the Port of Melbourne’s Holden Dock facility.
The exercise will test the on-water and land-based firefighting capability and emergency response management involving personnel and assets from:
- Metropolitan Fire Brigade;
- Svitzer Towage (tugs);
- Port of Melbourne; and,
- Victorian Ports Corporation (Melbourne).
The exercise is part of Port of Melbourne’s whole of port emergency maritime procedures and is coordinated with relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective management and safety of the port environment.
Port of Melbourne and Victorian Ports Corporation (Melbourne) have a responsibility to have in place Emergency Management Plans that provide an integrated framework for emergency management within the operational boundaries of the port of Melbourne. Both organisations are committed to protecting port users by supporting an “all agencies” and “all hazards” approach to support the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery of port-related emergencies.
