Employment Facilitator appointed to support transitioning workers in Hunter region

The Australian Government today announced the appointment of Mr Warrick Jordan as the new Employment Facilitator for the Hunter Valley in New South Wales.

Mr Jordan will start on 1 July 2019. His contract term is for three years.

Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Michaelia Cash, said the Employment Facilitator role is critical to helping people affected by a transitioning local economy.

“Mr Jordan’s role will be to find solutions to local labour market challenges, including assisting individuals to successfully transition ahead of the expected closure of the Liddell Power Station near Muswellbrook in 2022,” Minister Cash said.

“Mr Jordan will work with local jobactive providers, employers and training organisations to ensure local workers have the skills they need to re-enter the workforce and provide them with opportunities for retraining and further education.”

Mr Jordan is born and bred in the Hunter Valley and has close ties with the tight-knit community. He has particular experience in issues involving complex change process and a wide variety of stakeholders, and is passionate about ensuring workers in the Hunter Valley have access to the full range of opportunities available in the region.
