The Cornell Department of Music welcomes chamber group loadbang for their second visit to campus as the Steven Stucky Memorial Residency for New Music ensemble. Their performance on Saturday, April 15 at 7:30 pm in Barnes Hall will feature world premieres of new works by Cornell composers Laura Cetilia, Coral Douglas, Seare Farhat, and Matias de Roux.
The ensemble loadbang
Founded in 2008 and based in New York City, loadbang features a unique instrumentation of trumpet, trombone, bass clarinet, and baritone voice. Dedicated to education and the cultivation of an enthusiasm for new music, loadbang has premiered more than 450 works written by members of the ensemble, emerging artists, and today’s leading composers. During this visit, the new works will be rehearsed and performed. Additionally, the ensemble will work with chamber music students and visit classes.
Additional concerts April 11-17 include:
· The Cornell Glee Club, conducted by Joe Lerangis, performs their Return from Tour concert for the Ithaca community April 12 at 7 p.m. in Sage Chapel.
· Cornell Chorale, conducted by Michael Poll. The performance includes Beethoven’s Elegischer Gesang (Elegiac Song), Cuban-American composer Odaline de La Martinez’ The Crossing Suite, and Byron Adams’ Magnificat in D April 16 at 5 p.m. in Sage Chapel.
· Snarky Puppy, a broadly-defined Grammy-winning musical collective, part of the Cornell Concert Series, April 17 at 8 p.m. in Bailey Hall. Tickets $30-59 at cornellconcertseries.com.
