Entries Now Open For Premier’s Design Awards

VIC Premier

Entries are now open for Victoria’s annual celebration of local design excellence, the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards.

Minister for Creative Industries Steve Dimopoulos invited the state’s designers, architects and design-led businesses to submit their work for the 27th edition of the awards.

The Victorian Premier’s Design Awards recognise and reward the talent and innovation of Victorian designers and architects and Victorian businesses that use professional design to drive their success and economic growth.

The awards are open to designers, architects, design studios and businesses based in Victoria across eight design categories – architecture, product and industrial design, communications design, fashion, digital and service design, design strategy, and projects by tertiary design students.

All Best-in-Category winners go into the running for the coveted Victorian Premier’s Design of the Year, awarded each year to a project that embodies excellence in design and innovation.

The 2022 Design of the Year winner was the Victorian Pride Centre, designed by Brearley Architects and Urbanists (BAU), Grant Amon Architects (GAA), WSP and Peter Felicetti.

Previous Design of the Year winners include the Savic Motorcycle, a high-performance electric motorbike, the Cylite HP-OCT, a world-first 3D eye testing machine and the Blackmagic Studio Camera.

Established in 1996, the annual awards shine a light on an industry that generates an annual revenue of $6.3 billion and employs 98,000 Victorians in design-related roles – while also promoting the economic, social, and environmental benefits of investing in good design.

All entries will be judged by a jury of national and international design and business experts, with the winners will be announced at the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards ceremony in March 2024.
