Take inspiration from just a stone’s throw away with this year’s Townsville CityLibraries Short Story Competition.
The competition’s theme this year is in my backyard and there are up to $500 worth of cash prizes to be won.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the competition was open to all ages.
“There are four age categories that locals can enter into – zero to five-year-olds, children up to 11, young adults from 12 to 17 and adults who are 18 or older,” Cr Greaney said.
“This year’s theme is interesting because it’s open to wide interpretation. It will be interesting to see how each entrant takes the theme and turns it into a compelling short story.
“Our judges, local authors Margie O’Hara and Veronica Lando and JCU English lecturer Dr Emma Maguire, will use their expertise to decide on winners for each category. I’m looking forward to reading the winning stories.”
Submissions into the Townsville CityLibraries Short Story Competition are open until Tuesday 26 April.
