Evade police arrest 6 May

Regional Investigations Units detectives have charged two people after an evade police incident that occurred early this morning, 6 May 2021.

It will be alleged around 12.45am, police attempted to stop a stolen blue Suzuki Swift that was travelling on Corfield Road in Gosnells, however the driver failed to stop.

It will be alleged the driver accelerated away, exceeding the posted speed limit and breaching red traffic control lights, through various suburbs in the Armadale and Midland Districts. It will be further alleged during the incident the front passenger threw a number of items at following police vehicle, causing minor damage to the front, bonnet and windscreen of one police vehicle.

A tyre deflation device was deployed causing damage to all tyres of the Suzuki which came to a stop a short time later on Heath Road in Kalamunda.

A 22-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with Steal Motor Vehicle and Drive Recklessly; Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit by Police; Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (Circumstance of Aggravation); Possess a Prohibited Drug; Give False Personal Details to Police; No Authority to Drive; Stealing and Breach of Bail Undertaking.

A 26-year-old man from Kelmscott has been charged with Steal Motor Vehicle; Assault with Intent to Prevent Arrest of a Person; and Stealing.

They are both due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court today, 6 May 2021.
