- Family Court of Western Australia Registrar appointed as a Magistrate of the Family Court
- Jocelyn Connick brings to the role a strong legal background in the family law system
Attorney General John Quigley has announced the promotion of Jocelyn Connick within the ranks of the Family Court of Western Australia (FCWA).
Currently a Registrar at the FCWA, Ms Connick will take up her new role as a Magistrate of the court on 30 October 2023.
Admitted to practice in WA in 1990, Ms Connick has been an FCWA Registrar since 2018.
In the preceding 12 years she was a Supervising Solicitor at Legal Aid WA, where she advised and represented clients on complex family law matters, and managed and trained other lawyers.
Ms Connick also did a two-year stint as a Solicitor at the WA Corruption and Crime Commission and served one year as a State Prosecutor at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
As an FCWA Registrar, she continued to expand her family law experience across a range of responsibilities from divorce and consent orders lists to conciliation and other conference lists.
Ms Connick also contributed to a family violence and property disputes research project in her capacity as a Law Access Stakeholder Advisory Committee member.
She became a Nationally Accredited Mediator in 2020.

“I am pleased to appoint Jocelyn Connick as a Magistrate to preside in the Family Court of Western Australia.
“At Legal Aid WA, Ms Connick gained valuable exposure to complex legal issues pertaining to family law including child-related and property matters.
“She subsequently deepened her level of family law expertise as Registrar, conducting divorce, registrar duty, readiness hearing, conciliation, procedural and contravention conference lists.
“She is a highly experienced Registrar and Solicitor who will enhance the court’s capacity to administer complex cases. I wish Ms Connick well in her new position.”
