- Perth barrister Terry Palmer SC appointed to the District Court bench
- New appointment to fill recently vacated judicial position
Attorney General John Quigley is pleased to announce the appointment of Perth barrister Terence James Palmer SC as a Judge of the District Court.
Mr Palmer has practiced as a barrister for 15 years, having been admitted to the Western Australian Bar Association in 2008.
He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2021.
Mr Palmer commenced practice in 1998 and spent 10 years as a solicitor in private practice and for Government, including at law firm Clayton Utz where he was a senior associate.
Mr Palmer has experience in domestic and international arbitration in all State and Federal Courts, having represented a range of clients from the construction, mining and oil and gas industries and the insurance, finance and medical sectors.
In 2006, Mr Palmer became Special Counsel at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Terry Palmer’s appointment will fill a position vacated by the elevation of Judges Natalia Whitby and Stephen Lemonis to the Supreme Court.
The appointment takes effect on 31 July 2023.
