Jump aboard a canoe this summer holidays for a National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) ranger-guided canoe tour of the Coffs Coast waterways.
These paddle-powered tours give Coffs Coast locals and visitors the opportunity to discover safely why the areas waterways are so special.
National Parks and Wildlife Ranger, Sandy Van Veluwen, said: “There’s still spots available on our three separate Paddle Our Parks tours beginning 11 January at Bonville Creek, 22 January at Moonee Creek and 24 January at Corindi River, Red Rock.
You’ll paddle beside marine ecologists who’ll guide you along the pristine waterways as you explore the unspoilt beauty and wildlife of protected marine parks from the water.
Encounters with unique marine life here along the Coffs Coast are part of what makes this marine environment so special.”
The tours enter the fascinating worlds of the Bongil Bongil and Solitary Islands National Parks.
Paddlers learn about the fascinating varieties of wetland, forest and estuary birds, reptiles and fish that make this area their home while you keep an eye out for birds perching high on branches over the water and look for reptiles sunbaking along the creek banks.
All canoes and equipment are provided, and the tours are suitable for adults and children eight years and over, although kids must be accompanied by an adult.
“It’s also necessary for all our canoeists to be able to swim but you don’t need any canoeing experience to get on board,” Sandy said.
“We also recommend you bring a picnic lunch, sunscreen, hat and water to drink.”
