Extended transition period for CHC qualifications

In some cases, ASQA is empowered to approve transition periods longer than those detailed in Clauses 1.26 (a), (b) and (c) of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015.

In accordance with the Guidance for Providers – Learner Transition, ASQA considers transition requests, where it can be demonstrated that there would be genuine disadvantage to a cohort of learners, if such an extension was not approved.

Decision 1:

  • ASQA has recently approved an extended transition period for the following CHC qualifications:
    • CHC40313 Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention
    • CHC40413 Certificate IV in Youth Work
    • CHC40513 Certificate IV in Youth Justice
    • CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Services
    • CHC50313 Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention
    • CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work
    • CHC52115 Diploma of Community Development
  • The extended training, assessment and certification issuance period for these qualifications ends on 31 July 2024.

Decision 2:

  • ASQA has recently approved an extended transition period for the following CHC qualification:
    • CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services
  • The extended training, assessment and certification issuance period for this qualification ends on 31 December 2024.

Each decision applies for new and continuing students. Providers may accept new commencements during the extended period on the condition that all students must either have completed and been issued with qualifications, or transferred to the replacement qualification, by the new transition end date.

ASQA consulted with the VRQA and TAC WA for this extended transition request.

These qualifications will remain on provider scopes of registration until the end of the approved extended transition period date.
