Extreme Heat conditions are forecast for later this week. Helpful tips on preventing heat related illness can be found here
The forecast extreme heat for the coming week impacts some of Council’s services:
- The Civic Centre, Library and Community Centre will be open and is a cool place to visit or be, especially if you do not have air conditioning in your home.
- The George Bolton Swimming Pool will open for an extra hour is the temperature is 32ºC at 5 pm.
- Tusmore Park Wading Pool – with the current infrastructure it is difficult to manage the pool’s water quality during extreme heat conditions. To ensure there is no public health risk for all users, the wading pool will be CLOSED Tuesday 17 December (forecast 40°C) and Friday 20 December (forecast 44°C) for water replacement to ensure the water quality of the pool during the extreme heat. These closures will allow the wading pool to remain OPEN on Wednesday 18 December, Thursday 19 December and for the coming weekend.
