Fake identity documents found after vehicle stop, NSW

A man will face court next month after numerous fake identity documents were found in his car after it was stopped by highway patrol at Russell Lea earlier this week.

About 2.50pm on Wednesday 22 May 2019, Burwood Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Barnstaple Road, Russell Lea.

A Volvo, with Victorian registration plates, came to police attention due to the way it was being driven. The car was subsequently stopped on Henley Marine Drive.

A roadside breath test returned a negative result.

Inquiries at the scene revealed the 33-year-old man’s driver’s licence was suspended.

It will be alleged a search of the man and the car uncovered a number of fake NSW and Victorian drivers licences with the 33-year-old driver’s photo and other names.

Officers also found numerous Medicare and bank cards, which were not in his name.

The 33-year-old man was charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst licence is suspended, possess identity information to commit an indictable offence and goods in custody.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 17 June 2019.
