Over the weekend much of NSW and parched parts of Queensland received a welcomed reprieve, in what has been one of the driest years on record.
Western NSW received up to 30 millimetres of rainfall across Saturday and Sunday. Bourke recorded a year high fall of 90mm.
After enduring extreme dry during most of 2019, Bourke was only a week away from Level Five water restrictions. Glorious water is now flowing over the weir and has been welcomed by all residents.

There was good rainfall across the Riverina and most of the south-west slopes with Wagga Wagga recording 45mm since Saturday while Griffith had recorded 36mm by 5pm Sunday and Narrandera 40mm.
In Queensland, Blackall in the central west received 66mm on Wednesday alone, while Upper Claude River received 50mm. Quilpie in the southwest received 26mm.
While
the rain was strong across most of Western Sydney, neighbouring towns were not
as lucky as they received less than the predicted amounts of rainfall.
Although
the rainfall comes as a welcome relief for most farmers across NSW, summer is
still expected to be one of the driest on record with the BOM predicting
below-average rainfall across most of Australia from November through to
January.
